Hanover-Caroline Soil and Water
The Hanover-Caroline Soil and Water Conservation District’s priorities are to encourage implementation of soil and water conservation practices, to provide educational programs on soil and water conservation, and to communicate and maintain active relationships with cooperating agencies.
The mission of the Hanover Health Department is to improve the health of our community by preventing disease, promoting healthy lifestyles, and protecting people from environmental and other hazards.
The Hanover County Department of Human Resources provides programs and services designed to attract, motivate, and retain a diverse, efficient, and productive workforce.
The Information Technology department provides business application management, personal computing, data center and network services for county departments and agencies.
The Internal Audit Department is responsible for performance audits.
Pamunkey Regional Jail
The Pamunkey Regional Jail is a state-of-the-art facility, where all inmates are treated in a humane and constitutional manner until released.
Parks & Recreation
Parks and Recreation offers over 1,500 acres of parkland throughout Hanover County, with beautiful trails, historic landmarks, athletic fields, relaxing shelters as well as safe accessible playgrounds.
Planning works with citizens and the development community to guide development and land use matters within Hanover County.
The Public Utilities Department is responsible for all aspects of water and sewer services from billing to maintenance.
The Public Works Department is responsible for areas such as trash and recycling, drainage and stormwater, the airport, and more.

The Department of Social Services offers benefit and service programs with specific eligibility requirements or universal access, including: energy assistance, health insurance, child and adult protective services, and adoption and foster care services.
The treasurer is the custodian of all public monies of the county. The Treasurer’s Office is responsible for ensuring that local funds are collected, received, invested, safeguarded and properly disbursed.
Voter Registration & Elections Office
The Office of the General Registrar and Electoral Board of Hanover County strives to promote the highest level of service to the citizens of the commonwealth by providing equitable opportunities to register and vote; and by maintaining accurate records relating to voter registration, elections, election officials, and candidates.
