Residential Only Trash Center Hours and Locations
Convenience centers are located throughout the county for residents to dispose of household trash and recyclables free of charge.
Public Works Vehicle Registration & Decals
When using any of Hanover County's solid waste convenience centers for trash disposal and recycling, a Hanover County, Ashland, or Public Works decal must be displayed. Before obtaining a Public Works decal, your vehicle must be registered with the Commissioner of the Revenue in Hanover County. This can be done in person or online. After your vehicle is registered with the County, decals may be obtained at the Hanover County Treasurer's Office, or you may visit any of the solid waste convenience centers. When visiting a convenience center to obtain a public works decal, you must show an attendant a document with your Hanover County address, such as a Virginia driver's license or vehicle registration. Multiple vehicles per household may be registered; simply bring the documentation with you when visiting a convenience center with an additional vehicle.
If your vehicle will not be registered with Hanover County other accommodations will need to be arranged. In this instance, please call the Department of Public Works at 804-365‐6181 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday for available options.
