Responsibilities

The Building Inspector's Office is responsible for the enforcement of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (VUSBC) in Hanover County, Virginia and the Town of Ashland, Virginia

NOTICE:  Effective September 15, 2022, in accordance with Section N1103.7 of the 2018 Virginia Residential Code, all new mechanical equipment, ductwork and related appurtenances are required to comply with the design and sizing requirements of Manual J and Manual S, as published by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America.

The Town of Ashland has incorporated an Ordinance change that requires stormwater management for building permits on all new construction.
