Get Outside!

Montpelier LEGO League

Children ages 5 and up are invited to the Montpelier Branch Library | 17205 Sycamore Tavern Lane on Friday, September 1, 4-5 p.m. for fun LEGO challenges with friends. Refreshments are provided by Friends of the Montpelier Branch Library.

Paranormal Investigation

Visit the Hanover Branch Library | 7527 Library Drive on Friday, September 1, 7-10 p.m. for a ghost hunt. Transcend Paranormal will guide you through an investigation of the Hanover Branch Library and give a short lecture on paranormal investigation.

This event is for ages 13 and older.

Wire Wrapped Crystal Pendants

Teens aged 13-19 are invited to the Ashland Branch Library | 201 S Railroad Avenue on Tuesday, September 5, 6-7 p.m. to try their hand at a new hobby! The library will provide the needed supplies to learn to make write wrapped crystal pendants that you can take home!

Stickerpalooza

Kids aged 3-12 are invited to the Mechanicsville Branch Library | 7461 Sherwood Crossing Place on Thursday, September 7, 6-7 p.m. for an evening of sticker filled fun. Stickers and sticker books will be provided, but kids are welcome to bring their own stickers to trade!

Introduction to 3-D Printing

Come out to the Mechanicsville Branch Library | 7461 Sherwood Crossing Place on Saturday, September 9, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. to learn about new developments in 3D printing, how to create a 3D file, and create your own custom keepsake. Proficiency using a computer mouse, keyboard, and internet are required.

Attendees must be at least 13 years old, or ten years old if accompanied by an adult. There are limited spaces available for this event.

Learn to Metal Stamp

Teens ages 15 and older are invited to the Rockville Branch Library | 16600 Pouncey Tract Road on Saturday, September 9, 2-3 p.m. to learn how to metal stamp. You can make a personalized charm for a bracelet or necklace! All materials are supplied.

Atlee Lego Club

Kids in grades K-5 are invited to the Atlee Branch Library | 9212 Rutlandshire Drive on Saturday, September 9, 3-4 p.m. to meet and talk with other kids about your current Lego creations.

Video Game Tuesday

Kids ages 6-12 are invited to the Atlee Branch Library | 9212 Rutlandshire Drive on Tuesday, September 12, 3-5 p.m. to celebrate Video Game Day with the Nintendo Switch. Games such as Overcooked, Mario Kart, and more will be available for kids to play.

Building Challenge

Kids ages 2-12 are invited to the Mechanicsville Branch Library | 7461 Sherwood Crossing Place on Saturday, September 16, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for a morning of STEM exploration with multiple building supplies.

Princess Party

Join Hanover County Parks and Recreation in a Princess Party in Room 150 of the Wickham Building | 7497 County Complex Road on Saturday, September 23, 10 a.m.-noon.

Princesses aged 4-8 are invited by royal decree to attend the princess party of the year! Come dressed in your favorite princess attire and enjoy fun games, crafts, story time, cookie decorating, and more. All princesses will receive a complimentary gift bag and refreshments.

Teen Bead Crafternoon

Teens aged 12-18 are invited to the Mechanicsville Branch Library | 7461 Sherwood Crossing Place on Tuesday, September 26, 4:30-6:30 p.m. for a bead filled crafternoon! Beads and other supplies will be provided.

Hanover Youth Service Council Applications

Are you an 8th-11th grader in Hanover County? Do you want to create change, serve your community, and inspire others through volunteerism?

The Hanover Youth Service Council is accepting applications for the 2023-2024 membership term! Members participate in year-round monthly meetings, events and/or community service activities. Participation in HYSC enables members to develop friendships, build leadership skills, and make meaningful connections and contributions with their local community. The Council is seeking representation from every Hanover middle and high school, as well as students from private and home school programs. Engaging youth with diverse experiences and backgrounds is a primary goal of the program.

Students interested in applying should review the Hanover Youth Service Council Bylaws (PDF) and Hanover Youth Service Council Application (PDF). Applications include a signed copy of both the bylaws and the application, as well as two letters of recommendation. The deadline to submit applications is 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15. Patrick Henry YMCA: Food Pantry Distribution

The Patrick Henry YMCA Food Pantry serves food on the first Tuesday of every month from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Ashland Junction Parking Lot | 167 Junction Drive.

Come out to help feed local families by sorting, bagging, and putting food in cars! Volunteers aged 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult.

More than Sad for Parents

Hanover Behavioral Health and Wellness’ More than Sad for Parents program teaches parents how to recognize signs of depression and risk for suicide, initiate a conversation about mental health with their child, and get help.

This program is appropriate for participants ages 18 and older.

More than Sad is offered virtually via Zoom on Tuesday, September 19, 9-11:30 a.m. To register for this program, click here.
