Montpelier Recreation Center And Library

The Hanover County Montpelier Recreation Center and Library project has received zoning approvals and is currently under design. The project consists of a roughly 20,000-square-foot building that will house a recreation center with a full-size gymnasium and two classrooms in addition to a new library with a conference space and study rooms. The project also includes a new paved parking lot, construction of a relocated ballfield (Wickham Field), and connecting walkways.

July – November 2022:  Completion of design, site plan approval, and permitting.

November 2022 – March 2023:  Procurement for Construction

April 2023 – Mid 2024:  Construction

Project History

Hanover County Parks and Recreation conducted a community meeting for comments concerning the Conditional Use Permit and the Special Exception permit for the Montpelier Recreation Center and Library project on March 21, 2022.

Information gathered for that meeting was utilized to make any necessary changes to the Conditional Use Permit and Special Exception Permit. A revised sketch plan was then submitted to the Hanover County Planning Department for review at the April 21, 2022, meeting of the Planning Commission.
